Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced new Dragon Ball game for PS4, Xbox One and PC, which is being developed by Arc System Works and will be released worldwide in early 2018. It's called Dragon Ball FighterZ and will be a 2.5D fighting game that uses a three-vs-three team battle system that incorporates ultra high-speed battles and flashy moves that the Dragon Ball series is known for. The official press release (Google Translated) about the game was intended to be made on June 12, but was probably mistakenly published earlier.
According Tomoko Hiroki, Dragon Ball FighterZ producer, they chose 2.5D because all Dragon Ball titles were created exclusively in 3D and 2D styles, and some of things they planned could only be done in this style. This is something new and unique, which will allow them to create a completely new experience by combining the classic anime style and dynamic camera work.
Arc System Works is a serious fighting games developer and they have created many great games of this type (including the Guilty Gear series). They are also creators of both parts of the Dragon Ball Z Supersonic Warriors and Dragon Ball Z Extreme Butōden, so they also proved that they can create a good product set in the Dragon Ball universe.
The official website for Dragon Ball FighterZ will be located at https://www.dba.bn-ent.net and probably will be launched after the official announcement. We will surely hear more news about Dragon Ball FighterZ soon. Stay tuned!
